Police book 'Kakora locals' for assaulting police party

Rajouri , Nov 24: Rajouri police have booked some locals of village Kakora in Manjakot tehsil for assaulting a police party including Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) when they were on duty to pacify flood affected victims who were protesting today demanding delay in ration supply. "Police have booked one MohdSharief along with others for aggravating the people to organize attack on police party and have booked them in FIR No.106/14 under sections 346/323/353/336/382 ad 109 RPC at Manjakot police station," sources said. Police sources added that inhabitants of village Kakora and its adjoining areas , who were the victims of September month's natural calamity, were holding protests against the district administration and have blocked the Jammu-Poonch highway alleging that they have been ignored by the administration in providing relief for the last three months. They also alleged that why to talk of 'free ration' as announced by the State Government, but they are even deprived of routine ration on payments at government fair price government shops.
As the information of road blockade and protest reached at Manjakot, a police party lead by SDPO, Manjakot was rushed to Kakora and tried to pacify the people.
While the police party was trying to pacify the protestors some antisocial elements provoked the protesters against the police which took ugly turn resulting into scuffle between the policemen and protesters. Following scuffle the police used cane charge to disperse the protestors and to resume the usual traffic on road. Taking cognizance of organizing attack on police party and stopping them to perform their official duties, police have booked many of them under various sections of Ranbir Panel Code (RPC). SSP RajouriDrHaseeb Mughal while admitting the incident said that police is investigating the incident.
