Mehbooba targets NC for sufferings in J&K | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Nov 24: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president, Mehbooba Mufti today said National Conference as a result of its repeated betrayals of the cause of the people of Jammu and Kashmir would meet its waterloo in this election. According to press release, "NC has been misleading the people at the time of elections repeatedly but making compromises and sellouts on the vital economic and political interests of the state. But this time it seems that the party's game is up and the people have seen through its real character," she said while addressing various roadside meetings in Noorabad constituency of South Kashmir's Kulgam district. Party leader and candidate for Noorabad constituency, Abdul MajidPadroo was also present on the occasion.Mehbooba said NC is a spent political force and the people have decided to dump the party permanently in the assembly elections for its misdeeds and crimes. She said the history is witness to the fact that the party has always played with the sentiment and aspirations of the people and bartered state's interests for the chair. "The political turmoil which consumed a generation of young people and devastated thousands of families in Kashmir is all because of the NC," Mehbooba said.PDP President said it is the power which has made NC blind and it never looked beyond the chair. NC's lust for power has not only cost the state dearly but is the main reason for the party's bankruptcy and lost influence among the masses. "Now the time has reached to a level that people are refusing to fight elections on its tickets and its senior leaders and workers are leaving it which indicates that the NC has lost its sheen," she said. Mehbooba said the NC leadership, besides getting huge support of the people in the past, has always taken the people for granted, disrespected the opposing voices and encouraged corruption, crime and nepotism that is why state didn't see much progress, growth stagnation, economic backwardness under the governments of NC. "Had it taken the issues of the state serious the people would not have been suffering even for want of drinking water, which otherwise is present in abundance in Kashmir," she added. |
