Theft cases worked out: 5 thieves, 2 jewellers arrested; stolen property recovered

Jammu, Nov 24: Janipur police claimed to have worked out two theft cases that took place few days ago. Addressing media persons, SP North Shiv Dev Singh Chouhan, said that five thieves and two jewelers involved in the cases have been arrested besides recovery of the gold items from their possession. While,Police booked thieves under section 454/380 RPC, the jewelers were booked under section 411 RPC.
SP said that investigation started when one lady namely Rajkumari w/o Vijay Gupta of Kakkar Mandi,Janipur lodged a written complaint regarding theft of her gold items including two gold bangles of 5 tolas. While the police was investigating the matter, another report of theft case similar in nature was received in which the complainant namely Anil Sharma s/o Kausturi Lal Sharma of Lakkar Mandi alleged that two necklace, two gold chains, one gents kada, two bangles and two gold rings have been stolen from his residece.
During investigation ,police lifted one person namely Deepak Sudan s/o Krishan Lal Sudan of Siote,Rajouri at present Lakkar Mandi and during questioning he confessed that he, with his two frinds namely Akshay Gupta s/o Vijay Gupta of Lakkar Mandi and Sunny Sharma s/o Ved Prakash Sharma of Lakkar Mandi committed theft from the residence of Rajkumari and after committing theft they sold the stolen items to the jeweler namely Rajpaul Singh s/o Charanjeet Singh of Sainik Colony. The stolen gold items were later recovered from the possession of the jeweler.
During sustained questioning, one of the accused Sunny admitted of commiting second theft at the residence of Anil Sharma.He told police that he along with his two other associates namely Rahul Gautam s/o Madan Lal Sharma and Nihar Sharma s/o Mohan Lal, both residents of Lakkar Mandi, committed the theft at the residence of Anil.
The officer further said that the investigation of the case is in progress.
