BANI/BILLAWAR, Dec 3: Asserting that all the elements of Congress-led governance like massive developmental activities, double shift/triple shift, work culture, transparency, accountability, etc will be revived in the State, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha & Former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad called upon the people of the State to give a decisive and convincing mandate in favour of Congress. Ghulam Nabi Azad said this while speaking addressing poll rallies in support of Congress candidates from the respective assembly segments of Ban i&Billawar constituencies of Kathua District .Smt Ambika Soni, AICC general Secretary, Congress Candidates, Dr Manoha r Lal Sharma, Rajnesh Sharma 'MIan' besides other senior leaders, prominent citizens, Congress Workers, sarpanches and panches also addressed these rallies.
Azad maintained that Congress successfully gave a new paradigm of governance and fast-track development to J&K, which was based on equity and justice to all regions and sections. Hitting out at the divisive and exploitative forces, Azad said that people are aware how the remote and backward areas, like Bani, Basohli and Billawar were used as vote- banks for almost sixty years by certain parties and it is only Congress which made sincere beginning to initiate development activities.
Meanwhile calling the NDA Government a 'U-Turn Sarkar', AmbikaSoni said that NDA Government not only has failed to fulfill its electoral promises, but has let down the people of the country by taking U-Turns on all the issues which it was vociferously raising in the run-up to LokSabha elections.
Lashing out the NDA Government for failing to stop the ceasefire violations on the International border, Ambika Soni said "where have the tall claims of prime Minister gone?" Ambika said that more than three hundred ceasefire violations, including the war-like shelling of August , 2014, have taken place since the NDA government has assumed charge. "Day in and day out, our jawans are getting killed, our civilians are falling to the bullets of terrorists, Maoists attacks on security forces have increased and NDA government is maintaining silence", said Soni.
She asked why the Prime Minister, who used to sermonize on frivolous and petty issues before coming to power, is maintaining a silence on the frequent killing of our security jawans.
Both the senior leaders appealed to the wise and farsighted electorate of the State to give a decisive mandate to the Congress Party as it alone can fulfill the developmental needs and regional aspirations of the State because of its pan-Jammu & Kashmir presence.
