Omar promises nothing new in public rally at Soibugh, masses disappointed | | | Shakeel A Khan
Early Times Report BUDGAM, Dec 3: In a bid to lure voters from Soibugh area of this central Kashmir district, Chief Minister and working president of National Conference, Omar Abdullah today publically admitted that government led by him failed to do anything for the area even after remaining in the chair for a full term of six years. Addressing a public rally, the chief minister who spoke in haste promised a college in the area if people voted him to power again. "If one goes by the contents of his speech he made at the election rally at Soibugh, the chief minister said that I want all the five seats from the district and only then he can serve the people of the area which in other terms means that he has no hope of winning the elections," said Basharat Ahmad. Basharat went on saying that the party leaders were fully aware of the fact that the rally is being conducted in the native village of Syed Salah-ud-Din and that is why the proceedings began with the recitation of the verses from the holy Quran. The people who were present at rally venue believe that Omar once again made false promises that if voted to power will do wonders to the area which the people of the area are not ready to digest. The people say that in 2008 the party leaders made such promises but the ground reality continues to be same. "As to why the party is at the lowest ebb these days, is the result of its wrong policies. My grandfather was a diehard fan of the National Conference and my father too. But talking about present times the situation is altogether different at my home and there are many homes like ours which have distanced from the party," said Gulzar Ahmad from Nasarullahpora. Gulzar went on saying that no area of life has improved in the most parts of the constituency. "When the cavalcade of the Chief Minister returned from the rally venue, it was already dark and did it come to his mind that the area through which he was travelling is without the street lights." People of Soibugh village said that it is the matter of fact that the rally failed to invite a huge rush despite the fact that it was to be addressed by the third generation leader from the Sheikh dynasty, which otherwise used to draw a huge rush in the past. |
