Battling for life after road accident | Health Deptt ignores lady doctor | |
Early Times Report
Srinagar, Dec 3: A lady doctor, who was wounded critically in a road accident a few weeks back during her official duty in a remote Budgam area, has been battling for life in a Srinagar hospital. She has been left at the mercy of god by none other than the officials of her own department. DrLubna Khan, who is posted as Medical Officer at Primary Health Centre (PHC), Pakharpora, was on November 20 injured in a road accident near her hospital while she was returning to Srinagar in her private car after attending the night duty. She was undergoing treatment at Sheri Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Srinagar. DrLubna, posted at the Pakharpora PHC for the past four years, was travelling with her eight-year-old son when her car was hit by a speeding truck at Khaigam. While her son survived with minor injuries, she herself was seriously hurt. Relatives of DrLubna told this correspondent that not a single officer from health department had visited the SKIMS to enquire about the condition of the injured doctor who has been providing service in the far flung area of Budgam for the last four years . "No official from CMO or BMO office has bothered to visit the injured doctor and this shows the callousness of the health department towards its own staffers," said a relative of Dr Lubna. |
