Congress stands for development of state, not for a region: Chib | R S Chib files nomination papers | | Early Times Report
R S Pura, Dec 3: Former Minister and Senior Congress party leader, R S Chib on Tuesday filed his nomination papers for the Suchetgarh Assembly constituency. Chib was accompanied by AICC General Secretary Mukul Wasnik, Cong Observer Pawan Godara and state Youth Congress President, Shahnawaz besides a thousands of his supporters. Filing of nomination papers by Chib was accompanied by fanfare as he was taken to the office of the returning officer in a procession and a lot of sloganeering. Addressing Chib's supporters, Mukul Wasnik said, "There was no Modi wave in the state." Holding 'Road Show' to the office of the Returning Officer, Mr Wasnik voiced confidence that people will reject BJP's "propaganda about Modi wave". "Congress is rooted to ground. Those creating propaganda of wave will be defeated as those rooted to the ground will only be victorious," He further added that Mr Chib has worked a lot for the development of this area and the residents of the constituency. Seeking support of the public for votes in favour of Mr Chib, he said Mr Chib has responsibility of the state as well. He is needed in the state. "Congress has a history behind it. Cong is working towards better future of the people. We believe in work while the other parties were just making announcements,'' Mr R S Chib said. He said Congress has always played a vital role in Jammu and Kashmir and taken care of the aspirations of the each region of the State. He said Congress has always respected the sentiments of people of State including Jammu region and it is unifying force for the broader unity of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh and the country in view of its secular ideals. He further said that, "it is Congress which never discriminated with the people. We ensure equitable development." My priority is development of the area, youth, farmers and people residing on borders," Chib said. He said that the proposal of allotting plots of 5 marlas at safer places was prepared during the tenure of Sh Gulam Nabi Azad but the then coalition partners PDP led by Mufti Mohd sayeed withdrew the support and the proposal was stalled. Again under the pressure of Congress the proposal was sent to Central govt but the BJP led govt sent it back to the state govt. He assured that on eleted as representative of the area he pressurize the govt for providing alternative land to the border residents so that they can shift to the safer places with their families at the time of escalation of tension on the border. Chib said that the Jat community is fighting since long for their inclusion in the OBC category which is already granted in states like Rajasthan and Haryana. "I assure that for getting Jat community included in the OBC category will pressurize the govt and the same would be got done will be the priority of his and Congress government in the state", Chib added. Enumerating his achievements and development of the constituency, Chib said that besides opening of hospital and Bana Singh stadium a number of Primary and Sub health centrs were started in the area. He said that the Tehsil Head Quarter has been shifted to native village of MLA and assured that it will be got shifted to some central and suitable to all place. Taking a dig at PDP Chib said that it has a Kashmir centric agenda and will do nothing for the betterment of refugees, ex servicemen and weaker sections whereas as Congress is always working for the development of all the sections of the sections of the society. "I am working for the last over three decades for the overall development of the Suchetgarh constituency. So I appeal them to vote for Congress in the state assembly elections for the all round development of the border constituency", Chib said. |
