Governing council for SMVD Gurukul meets | | | Early Times Report
Katra, Jan 1: The 14th meeting of the Governing council for Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Gurukul (SMVD), was held at the Gurukul Complex here in which review of working and functioning of this institution was undertaken. Various issues concerning the welfare and all round development of the students were discussed. Chairman of SMVD, Dr. S. S. Bloeria expressed satisfaction at the functioning of the Gurukul, which was established by the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board in 2010. The meeting particularly noted with great satisfaction the outstanding achievement registered by the students of the Gurukul in the annual examinations of class 8th and 9th conducted by the Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya, Varanasi in May-June 2014 and that two of its students viz Master Neeraj Jamwal and Master Ranjeet Singh, who appeared in class 8th examination, having secured first position in the entire University. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) informed that the Gurukul has not only achieved the distinction of 100percent pass percentage but all its students of both 8th and 9th classes have secured first positions with marks ranging from 60 percent to 80percrnt and above. During the meeting they also discussed in detail the to-date status of construction of Gurukul Phase-II. The meeting was informed that the work on the leveling of the ground is going on speedily and the construction work on this phase comprising hostel for students, who shall be pursuing "Shastri" course, residential accommodation for Acharyas and staff, Yagya Shalla, Temple and allied facilities would commence shortly and will be completed within 18 months. The Shrine Board has also made elaborate arrangements for indoor and outdoor games at the Gurukul for all round personality development of the students. Emphasis is being laid on sports, games, debating competitions, music and other extra-curricular activities alongside academics. The Gurukul also organizes a few refresher courses during the year to sharpen skills of Pandits/Pujaris from the region and those serving in the Shrine Board, of which 3 refresher courses have already been conducted. Under this programme, 25 such refresher courses have been organised by the Gurukul during the past over 4 years of its establishment. |
