Authorities snooze as Govt. schools lose over half of their land to grabbers

Jammu, Jan 1 : Blame it on indifference of the administration of Government Middle School Nahoti and Government Primary School Nahoti of Panchayat Nalla Makol of district Rajouri, the schools have lost 40 percent of their land which has been illegally grabbed by some influential people of the area.
Sources told Early Times that both schools which fall under Hathal zone of Tehsil Sunderbani officially have land measuring more than 80 kanal including 68 kanals of Government Middle School Nahoti and 12 kanal of land in the name of Government Primary School Nahoti. They alleged that out of 80 kanals of land some people have managed to get 3 kanals of land transferred in the name of a temple and 3 kanals and 2 marlas in the name of Panchayat Ghar while the school administration remained in deep slumber.
Sources alleged that out of total 80 kanals of land schools have only 35 kanals of land with them while 45 kanals of land has been grabbed by some influential and powerful persons of the area in connivance with revenue officials.
Chief Education Officer (CEO) Rajouri AH Hani, when contacted in this regard said that he would issue direction to the concerned ZEO for the ascertaining the fact at the earliest and taking immediate action to reclaim the grabbed land.
Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Jitender Kumar Singh said that he would ask concerned Tehsildar to take cognizance of the matter and immediately demarcate the land. He assured that he would take appropriate action against the erring officials.
Meanwhile Tehsildar Sunderbani Rakesh Kumar Sharma said that he had asked concerned Patwari, Naib, Tehsildar and Gardawar for taking immediate action in this case. "I am a new person here but whole case will be verified to find out the fact and any discrepancies will be dealt with as per law of the land.
