Avinash Azad Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 1: The Directorate of Distance Education, University of Jammu is violating the norms as ineligible persons have been teaching MEd students. Sources informed Early Times that going beyond the eligibility fixed for the post of teachers for MEd (PG course) the authorities have engaged MPhil Scholars for the purpose. "The programme in-charge of first group of MEd students (1-500), Dr Darshana Sharma has engaged an MPhil Scholar in Mathematics to teach Statics the MEd Students during recently held personal contact progamme (PCP)", sources maintained, adding that to adjust a favorite the programme in-charge not only violated the guidelines, but also cheated the students by employing scholar of another course for statics. Smelling a rat in arrangements made for PCP, the sources said that even list of teachers who were engaged to teach the students has not been displayed. "Programme in-charge should at-least display the list of teachers/ faculty who teach the students", they added. However, the sources, informed that the scholar who taught the MEd students, had done MEd. "A person possessing MEd degree is not eligible to teach MEd students. UGC has clearly mentioned NET/PhD as eligibility for same course", the sources added. When contacted, Director DDE, Prof VD Singh said that he was not aware about it. However, he said the illegibility for MEd teacher is NET (National Eligible Test) qualified in same subject. "This is responsibility of programme in-charge to arrange the teachers for course", he added. |
