Bobiya, Zero line, Jan 1: New Year celebrations turned into mourning along the border where Pakistani rangers attacked with heavy shells and mortars that damaged houses, crops and live stocks. The cross border firing started during day time nearly 12 km away to Kathua at Bobiya and adjoining villages at International border but Pakistani rangers again targeted the locals at mid night at 1:35 a.m. Pakistani Rangers opened heavy fire during last night along International Border at Hiranagar Sector where BSF responded causing scare in the area. The situation remained tense in the villages and people had to live in terror throughout the night. Many houses have been damaged; cross border firing killed live stock and damaged crops too. Thirth Singh, a victim and Naib Sarpanch of the village, said Pakistani rangers started firing at mid night where many houses got damaged. He said people cannot cultivate their crop in land but Pakistani peasant openly visit till zero line and graze their animals. He informed that Border Security Force, BSF, left 2 km while fencing the area and does not allow people to enter in their own agriculture land. He added that Bobiya village occupies 2400 kanal area from BP no. 94 to 110 but few kanals have been left after fencing which affected t e livelihood of farmers. Villagers expect permanent solution to Bharatiya Janta Party government but allege on UPA and state former coalition government to ignore the sufferings of the villagers. They said BJP government should take serious action against Pakistan to solve the long pending issue. They added that the government should take initiative and talk to Pakistan as people are suffering in the border areas. |
