AKHNOOR, Jan 1: Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor made it a fine 55 runs win against Street Warriors in the inaugural match of the Christmas Cup Twenty20 Tournament at Government Higher Secondary School ground, here today. Earlier, batting first, Street Warriors won the toss and opted to field. Batting first, Singh Club set a target of 149 runs for eight wickets. Sunil remained top scorer with 17-ball 24 runs while Chandan Sharma and Suresh Malhotra contributed 21 and 23 runs respectively. From Singh Club, Aman, Pankaj and Ubey took two wickets each while Deepak and Sourav shared apiece each. In reply, Street Warriors bowled out for 93 runs in 15.3 overs. Sonu and Deepak were highest scorers with 21 and 27 runs in their respective accounts. Sham Singh Langeh, Suresh Malhotra and Dilawar took two wickets each. For his all round performance, Suresh Malhotra named man of the match. Today's match officiated by Vikas Bali and Rajinder as umpires while Manik Sharma maintained the score. Earlier, the tournament was declared open by Youth Congress leader, Ankush Sham Sharma. |
