Kishtwar facing shortage of doctors, para-medicos | | | Early Times Report
KISHTWAR, Jan 1: The district hospital, Kishtwar, is facing acute shortage of doctors and para-medical staff as a result of which people are faced with a lot of problems. As the hospital is unable to deal with the increasing rush of patients due to the shortage of staff, some patients allegedly die to the lack of proper treatment. Recently a lady died in the hospital due to the alleged negligence of doctors in the hospital, evoking a strong protest from the people. Protests have been held in the town time and again against the shortage of doctors and para-medical staff in the hospital but the hospital administration is unable to tackle the increasing rush of patients and provide them due medicare. Shamsher Singh Bhandari, a local, while expressing his grave concern over the shortage of staff in the district hospital, urged the authorities to immediately fill up the vacant posts of doctors and para-medical staff. In a statement issued here today, he said due to the lack of doctors, para-medical staff and nursing orderlies, the patients admitted in the hospital and those coming for treatment from far off places of the district are facing many hardships and sometimes patients die due to the lack of proper care as the hospital is running short of staff resulting into protests. Sources said several posts were lying vacant in the hospital but the authorities concerned had not bothered to fill them up. |
