PM has exclusive vision for Northeast: Dr Jitendra | | | Early Times Report
New Delhi, Jan 1: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has an exclusive vision for North-East which is reflected in his constant concern for the development of this region and his personal follow-up of various projects and schemes. This was stated here today by Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS in PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh while releasing "e-book" highlighting the work, achievements and future initiatives of the Ministry of DoNER. He informed that a meeting of North-Eastern Council (NEC) comprising Chief Ministers of Northeastern States and Governors is also being convened at Shillong tomorrow. "It is no small achievement that the present government was instrumental in starting first ever trains to the State of Meghalaya from Dudhnoi to Mendipathar which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 29, 2014 during his visit to North-East. From the point of view of Railways, this was second historic landmark of the Narendra Modi government after the inauguration of Katra-Vaishnodevi Railway Station by the Prime Minister on 4th July, 2014," he added. Ever since he was entrusted the charge of North-East region about a month ago, he said, he has taken it up as a challenge and tried to give impetus to the Ministry. As a part of this endeavor, he had convened a meeting of all the MPs belonging to North-East on 19th December, 2014 and will follow it up with NEC meeting. |
