| AYSS Meerut distributes blankets among landslide victims | | |  Early Times Report
Kishtwar, Jan 1: Amarnath Yatra Sewa Simithi (AYSS) Meerut (UP) today distributed 1200 blankets among over 250 families of Kishtwar landslide victims of Pullar, Anjna and Sangnabata villages of Padyarna Tehsil in Kishtwar district.
The blankets were distributed by the President Vinod Grover in presence of local social activist Jagdish Chander Sharma along with Vice Presidents of the Sanstha Mahesh Mital, Shashi Malhotra & Mohan Lal and Secretary Sanjay Sharma.
The blankets were distributed as per the strength of the family members, the list of which was provided by the administration and by local public representatives. The Sanstha earlier plans to distribute the blankets among these landslide victims in the month of November, but due to implementation of Model Code of conduct in the District, the local administration did not allow to carry out any relief work in the District.
"I am thankful to AYSS Meerut for helping us by giving blankets to the effected families which will certainly help the victims to bear the brunt of ongoing extensive cold weather" said Sanju Kumar. Another victim Anil Kumar said that the victims are suffering on account of accommodation as four families are putting up inside a single tent. He said that people are in fear to go to homes due to frequent landslides, added that victims had demanded a land for rehabilitation of all the affected families, but the government turned blind eye towards them forcing the victims to lead a displaced life. "There is no drinking water, no road, no electricity, no ration to the people---we have to travel on foot for several hours to get Kerosene oil at Padyarna" said Sunil Kumar. |
