| JKPCC gearing up for political affront against PDP-BJP alliance | | 'Secretariat gherao' on May 5 | | Duty assigned to leaders to 'arrange' workers for 'show of strength'
Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 29: As administrative machinery of PDP-BJP government is gearing up for re opening of Durbar on May 5 in Srinagar, opposition party Congress too is firming up its girdles for its first political affront on the road against the coalition government. State unit of Congress has decided to organise 'Secretariat Gherao' protest demonstration against both the ruling allies for a host of reasons which the party attributes its failures and betrayal with the people by choosing the day when Darbar would re open in the summer capital. Sources in the Congress said while a resolution has already been adopted unanimously by JKPCC in the meeting held two days back, the President GA Mir has given specific directions to leaders down the hierarchy to garner full support in order to turn the programme into a show of strength of the party. Sources said the JKPCC chief in the meeting heldon Sunday assured the functionaries that he himself would arrange biggest tally in terms of number of workers and supporters needed for Secretariat gherao show yet he needed as many workers to turn up from different quarters in Valley. Sources said the responsibility has been particularly given to leaders like Usman Majid, Shoiab Lone, GA Monga , G A Magray and Nazir Khan to arrange and assemble a good number of people who would keep themselves at disposal of anything and everything that can happen during the road show. The party has given instructions to its entire hierarchy in valley to convey to workers that they should remain prepared for lathi charge , tear gas shelling and even arresting spree which is expected during the protest when Congress would take on the PDP-BJP coalition . Sources said barring a couple of leaders who have distanced themselves from this major political show organised by the JKPCC chief, entire unit has expressed willingness to be part of the programme which will begin with procession from PCC office that will culminate into a massive demonstration outside the Civil Secretariat on May 5. Sources further said the JKPCC has assigned the job to a few leaders to garner full support for the secretariat gherao programme through social media which has already begun in a big way. While Congress will try to assert its political existence post its debacle for the first time through this programme, the party leadership has stated that this would be a sort of reminder to people that the alliance between the PDP and BJP is what he alleged 'unholy' and both the partners have betrayed people in respective regions. |
