MENDHAR, Apr 29: The already understaffed government ITI (Industrial Training Institute) here has faulty computers, typewriters and broken items of furniture in the classrooms. The institute has a total area of 16.16 kanals but many bricks of its boundary wall have been taken away by some people for their personal use. The same group of people was now also trying to grab a portion of the institute land, ITI sources said. The ITI imparts training to students in eight trades - plumbering, electrical, stenography, computers, electronics, welding, fitting and motor mechanic, according to the institute's supervisor Raj Singh. Sources said against the 22 sanctioned posts, the ITI, which has a strength of over 200 students, had only 12. The class furniture, including desks for students, was also in a very bad condition, the sources alleged. Out of over 15 computers, only 2-3 were functional while the typewriters were also not functional. "The hostel and library, which was set up in 1985, also do not present a good picture," sources alleged, saying the Rs 1 lakh worth generator set, telephone and the office clock were also non-functional.
