Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 29: Winds of change have started blowing across Kashmir. Those, who stoned forces, are now braving militant threats for army jobs. There was a time when no one from Kashmir would join army. Militants of different outfits would issue diktats against the Kashmiri Muslim youth not to join army but now more and more Muslim youth are opting for a job in army. To take part in the ongoing recruitment process in TA Bns of army, thousands of youth have been coming to Anantnag, Baramulla and Kupwara. Those, who earlier formed groups to stone army, were now eager to join it and serve the nation, remarked a senior army officer. This showed that the winds of change had started blowing in the valley. Instead of wasting their time in pelting stones on forces, they were now worried more about their career. This was an encouraging trend and this would take them on the past of development, he added. "They now know that only jobs can change their fortunes and help them feed their families," the officer said. This is not the first time when Kashmiri Muslims have shown keen interest in army jobs. Earlier also, over 20,000 of them had come to Rangrate in Srinagar when JAK Li had carried out recruitments for 55 posts. Kashmiri Pandits, who earlier hesitated from joining army, were also coming forward now. 40 of them had joined army in one batch last year. Army too feels that the situation has now changed in Kashmir. It was only because of the reason that army had started recruitment for its TA Bns in the valley, the officer said. "The three TA Bns are being raised to boost their morale. This would help in the further normalisation of situation in the valley," he asserted.
