| LMD books FCI for under-weighing | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 29: Legal Metrology Department today booked Food Corporation of India Udhampur, after a team led by secretary CAPD in a surprise check found that 50 kgs bags in the godown weighed less by 600 gms each. In order to ensure proper supplies of ration to far flung areas, Secretary CAPD, Satish Nehru today took assessment of stock availability, grinding and transport facilities at flourmills in Udhampur town. Secretary CAPD along with Director CAPD and officers of Legal metrology from Jammu and Udhampur today visted M/S Trikuta flour Mill,R C Flour Mill and Shalimar flour mill to take first hand information on the ground regarding distribution scenario and necessary instructions were conveyed to further stream line the ration supply so that it can reach well in time to the consumers. The Legal Metrology team also inspected storage godwown of Food corporation of India at Udhampur and weighment of each bag marked with Net 50 Kg Weight was done as per the rules. On inspection it was found that bags were weighing less by 600 g on an average .The case for short Weighment was registered as per the provision of Law enforced for the purpose and notice of Seizure was issued to Manager FCI. |
