Behind the veil

Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 12: Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti and President of National Conference,Dr Farooq Abdullah, have been pleading for reopening of channels of dialogue between India and Pakistan. Well the two top politicians believe that through talks the problems could be resolved and peace could be restored to Jammu and Kashmir.
Well India continues to be oblivious of the demand from Mehbooba or from Farooq Abdullah. Not they New Delhi has not received reports about Mehbooba and Farooq's demand but it wants to be on the safer side.
For India Pakistan has to give some sort of assurance that it will not export terror to Jammu and Kashmir. Number two: that it will wind up all the arms training camps meant for imparting arms training to militants who later are pushed into Jammu and Kashmir. Number three: Let Pakistan stop ceasefire violations so that peace is restored to the border villages.
Well Pakistan is not prepared to accept any condition imposed or suggested by India. How could then New Delhi accept the demands of Mehbooba and Farooq Abdullah.
Kashmir separatists, who thrive on moral, diplomatic and material support from Pakistan have virtually paralysed life in Kashmir for the last 160 days in which several people were killed.
A situation has emerged wherein miscreants set school buildings on fire with the purpose that the youth may not be able to at tend the schools and there by act as a fodder during clashes between security forces and the protesters.
The current tension for the state Government is not the border violations nor the ingress because they are the babies to be tackled by the Indian Army and the BSF.
The problem with the state Government is that how to conduct classes in the schools and how to conduct the annual examinations?
The state Government has decided to give a choice to the student community. They can either sit for the exams that were to be held in November-December or in March.
Secondly 50 per cent syllabus is reduced for the paper setting purposes. In addition to this the state Government has directed the police to carry out round the clock duty in and around school premises so that miscreants are prevented from torching school buildings.
Well Kashmiri students are talented and that talent they have shown despte turmoil,by getting selected to the Indian civil services. More than nine students from Jammu and Kashmir have been selected for the centrfal services dur ng the last four years.
Possibly Pakistan wants the youth to give up academic activities and join militancy.
No problem for Pakistan if Kashmir will have an illiterate race in the next three to five years..Pakistan is bothered about the land, its mountains, rivers and Ravines besides slopes.
Pakistan is interested in snow and its charming weather but not about the people and their future.
