Race for top post heats up, front runners knock at doors of politicians Who would be next IGP Jammu? 11/12/2016 11:16:52 PM Hulchul in Police Abodh Sharma Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 12: Race to the office of IGP Jammu is beginning to warm up as the term of the incumbent IGP is nearing completion. Front runners for the top post are knocking at the doors of politicians to meet the objective. Sources in the higher political circles divulged that a few BJP MLAs, middlemen and party workers are lobbying for their respective candidates. They said that at least four officers are pushing hard and have mobilized all their political resources to get the nod of the government which is likely to affect reshuffle in top police administration in the next cabinet meet. The list includes a top officer presently posted at PHQ. He is relying on his relations with a senior PDP leader. Second on the list is an officer currently on central deputation, posted in Intelligence Bureau (IB). He is considered to be close to the BJP and reported to be personal liking of the party senior leader. The officer has manned some important postings in the region. Third one in the list is another officer on central deputation, presently posted in the National Investigating Agency (NIA), who was very close to becoming IGP Jammu in the past . The said officer is reported to be close to a senior Minister in Modi Cabinet. Fourth on the list is another officer, who is also considered close to the ruling dispensation, and has already served as IGP Jammu and is looking for an another term. The reshuffle in top police administration is overdue, but government had held it back due to ongoing unrest in the Valley, but now, with situation gradually returning to normal in Kashmir and the Durbar shifted to the winter capital, the shuffle is very much on cards and may take place in the next meeting of the state cabinet.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
