Jammu, Nov 12: Work in the newly constructed Indira Gandhi Government Dental College and Hospital (IGGDC&H), Jammu, has come to a halt for last two days due to water scarcity. However, officials of the hospital claim that water supply was restored but for a while. Sources told Early Times that water supply to the new building of IGGDC&H was disrupted for last two days due to which patients and staff including doctors were forced to buy water bottles from market. "There was no water to sterilize instruments, wash the floor, clean the linen," sources said. "Toilets were stinking and doctors on duty were forced to carry drinking water bottles from home for second day on Saturday," sources added. They said few doctors had to reschedule some routine treatment. A patient, who visited there for checkup of teeth, said due to non-availability of water, the doctors had asked to him to buy water from outside if he wanted to get treated. The water crisis in the newly constructed hospital has raised fingers on the seriousness of the authorities concerned who have failed to provide basic facilities. Interestingly, the hospital administration has taken up the matter with the Minister for Health and Medical Education, Bali Bhagat, but to no avail. |
