Jammu, Nov 12: Indian Institute of Public Administration, J&K Regional Branch in collaboration with Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu organized the 15th Annual Veeranna Aivalli Memorial Debate Competition on the topic "In the opinion of the house, Entrepreneurship is the only option for gainful employment". A total of 20 teams from various affiliated colleges and University teaching departments participated in the competition. The team from Government College for Women, Parade represented by Sangapriya and Rishika lifted the Veeranna Aivalli Running team trophy. The first prize was won by Swikiriti Mahajan from The Law School, University of Jammu; Sangapriya from Government College for Women, Parade bagged the second prize followed by Nazish Wani from Government Degree College, Doda. The consolation prizes were won by Kunal Saini, GGM Science College, and Binesh Khan, from Jammu College of Physiotherapy. The prorgramme was attended by members of J&K Police, University and College teachers, members of IIPA and civil society. Swarna Aivalli, Nitish Aivalli and Girish Aivalli with his family were the special guests on the occasion. K. Rajendra Kumar, IPS, Director General of Police, J&K was the chief guest at the prize distribution function. Speaking on the occasion, he said that imparting of training is very important for skill development and that it will go a long way in cementing the socio-economic empowerment of the state. In his presidential remarks, BR Sharma, Chief Secretary, J&K government and Chairman, IIPA, JK Regional branch pointed out that India has a large youth force wanting to be employed and entrepreneurship can solve this problem. |
