National education day celebrated at GDC, Mendhar 11/12/2016 11:33:13 PM Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 12: Government Degree College, Mendhar celebrated "National Education Day'-the birth day of Moulana Abdul Kalam Azad, the first Education Minister of India" today in the college premises. According to press release, the programme was organised by the Department of Education and NSS Unit of the college, in which all the students of the College participated. Prof. Mohd Akram gave the welcome address and also put light on the importance of this day. The function was presided over by the Principal, Dr. Javaid Ahmed Qazi. The programme was started with prayer by the NSS Volunteers. In his presidential address, Dr. Javaid Ahmed Qazi, Principal of the college stress upon the students for inculcation of good habits which included character building by following the principles put forth by this great freedom fighter and scholars. He also put great stress for preservation of culture which is the back bone of our civilization for sustainable development.
