Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 12: The family of Bholy Devi, who is alleged to have died due to the doctor's negligence, has accused police and Health Department of dragging their feet in not providing them justice.
Addressing media persons here, Mulk Raj said his wife had stone in the gallbladder and was admitted to Gandhi Nagar Hospital where one Dr Sharma performed the laproscopic surgery on June 17 last against their wish. "My wife was admitted to the hospital on June 6 and the surgery was performed after the conduct of requisite tests," he added.
She felt severe pain after the operation, but when the doctor was called, he said the the patient was fine and there was no need to worry about. However, when her condition deteriorated, the family shifted her to the Government Medical College and Hospital, where ECG and CT scan tests were done. The doctor later told them that the patient had developed severe infection. However, before the treatment could start, she died of bleeding, Mulk Raj claimed.
Though he complained to the health director, the latter took no action in the case. Copies of the complaint were sent to the chief minister, health secretary, DGP, IGP and SSP, but they too were alleged to maintained silence over the matter, he said.
"Instead of helping us, a minister blamed us for getting the operation done from an old age doctor and told me that I should have consulted a young doctor," he alleged.
He with his family have appealed to the chief minister to look into the matter and help them get justice.
