Excise sleuths conduct raids, destroy 1150 Kgs Lahan material | | | Early Times Report kathua, Nov 12: The Excise Department Jammu has tightened its noose on violators of the various provisions of the J&K Excise Act in entire Jammu division and today conducted raids in Kathua district during which Excise sleuths have destroyed 1150 kgs of material used to extract Lahan - the illicit liquor. Official spokesperson said, under the active supervision of the Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu Mohammed Shahid Saleem, the Excise Team Kathua led by Arun Kumar inspector Excise under the command of Excise and Taxation Officer, Excise Range Kathua, Sandeep Gupta and Excise and Taxation Officer,, Eradication & Enforcement Wing Jammu Suresh Sharma conducted raids at Jateeri, Saktachak, Veersochak and Banyari areas of Kathua district hetre today. "The objective of the raids was to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liquor, spokesperson said, adding, "in the process more than 200 kilo grams of Lahan, 112 pouches of illicit liquor made from 1150 kilograms of Lahan was recovered and was destroyed on spot. The team also has asked the people top remain vigilant against the criminal elements so as to keep the society clean. |
