Jammu, Nov 12: Principal Sessions Judge, Kathua, Vinod Chatterji Koul has rejected the bail application of a selection grade cop in a rape case. A case against cop Chaggar Singh is registered at Lakhanpur police station under sections 354 and 382 of RPC on the victim's complaint. Chaggar and other accused Balbir Singh allegedly entered the victim's house and raped her. While leaving her house, they also snatched her gold ear rings and a mangal sutra. The judge, after hearing both the sides, observed that when there was prima facie proof in support of the allegations of serious nature, such discretion could not be used in favour of such a defaulter. In this case, the offences alleged to have been committed by the petitioner were serious and hence he could not be allowed to be released on bail in anticipation of his arrest. "Accordingly, the bail application is without any merit and is rejected," the court directed. (JNF) |
