Purchase Scam surfaces in SDH Bijbehara, machinery purchased on exorbitant rates | | | Saahil Suhail Early Times Report Anantnag, Nov 12: Lakhs worth Purchase Scam has surfaced in Sub-District Hospital Bijbehara where machinery and equipments have been purchased on exorbitant rates allegedly by the authorities. According to official reports, The Medical Superintendent has constituted a four member committee to probe the allegations. "The committee has completed the investigation and has submitted the report. We have sent the same report to Chief Medical Officer," the MS told Early Times. Medical Superintend Sub-District Hospital Bijbehara, Dr Showket however didn't provided a copy of the report neither provided more details. Senior Assistant, Ghulam Mohmmad, key member of the committee, probing the scam pleaded ignorance. "I don't know anything about the report which has been submitted to Chief Medical Officer Anantnag. Even as a member of the committee I haven't signed the report," he claimed. The others who were the members of the probe committee include Dr Nasir Malik, Dr Sharief and Dr Rashid. "The four member committee has probed the allegations and has even established the scam," sources said. They said that under political pressure the process of investigation into the scam has gone down. "Actually scam is being hushed up," they said, adding such a scam must be probed by vigilance department. Sources said that authorities have purchased machinery and equipments on mush higher rates just to loot the state exchequer. It is also being alleged that on account fake works like repairing of boundary, huge amounts has been withdrawn. They said that hospital authorities have also sold a piece of land to house owner residing behind the hospital building. "Wall of the hospital was razed to allow a praivte person to transport construction material but now he (private person) claims the land belongs to him. MS has written to Chief Medical Officer Anantnag and revenue department but yet no action has been taken," he said. Repeated attempts failed to contact Chief Medical Officer Anantnag, Dr Fazil Kochak for a comment. |
