Seek explanation from Mirwaiz: Separatists to Geelani | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Nov 12: Cracks are widening in the separatist spectrum as former Hurriyat (M) chairman Prof Abdul Gani Bhat has openly criticized Syed Ali Geelani led politics. Prof Bhat, who is a part of Hurriyat (M) led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Friday openly criticized the separatists for giving shutdown calls and has apparently said these people were only keeping the pot boiling and causing inconvenience to the people. Sources said many separatists on Saturday called on Syed Ali Geelani and expressed their displeasure how Prof Bhat openly criticized them. "Some separatists have told Geelani to seek explanation from Mirwaiz how a member of his group is openly speaking against the separatists and slamming their politics," a separatist leader said on Saturday. "Some have warned that they won't support separatists programme in future if Mirwaiz won't disassociate statements himself from Prof Bhat and expel him from his conglomerate," he said. They said it has been conveyed to Geelani how Prof Bhat has questioned the authority of the "leaders of two-member parties" to decide on behalf of the people of Kashmir. "We have now become a community of leaders. There are now leaders for every two people. We have no common men left among us," Bhat has said in reference that there are only leaders in Kashmir while no common people are left. Bhat has also questioned the separatists saying the leaders should not only be honest but also sagacious who are clear about the goal, the challenges associated with it and how to lead people there. Sources said Prof Bhat has told separatists that Kashmiri people don't recognize the so-called civil society members, who have advised separatists to continue the shutdown in Kashmir when they held a meeting at Geelani's residence. They said Bhat has also asked Mirwaiz not to follow Geelani's programmes and snap all ties with his group. Prof Bhat who is critical of Geelani is the first separatist leader of the ongoing unrest who has openly opposed the joint separatist leadership. Similarly, sources said Bilal Gani Lone and Moulani Abbas Anasri are also critical of Mirwaiz for having joined Geelani's hands. "The trio are mounting pressure on Mirwaiz don't follow Geelani's programme as they believe they have been sidelined for the last four months," sources added. |
