BJP high command reprimands state unit over Kathua murder case
2/22/2018 11:14:44 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 22: The BJP high command is dismayed over the lack of political vision of the state BJP unit in articulating party's position on Kathua rape and murder case. It has expressed serious reservation about it in not putting in perspective the march taken out by the Ekta Yatra manch, which has been used by the Kashmir and a section of the national media to project Jammu in 'communal,' colours.
According to the sources, the BJP has reprimanded the state leadership for aggressively coming out in open about the murder case with facts and figures. It had told the state leadership while PDP was quick to jump to condemn the people who had 'wrongly' carried national flag in the march but BJP was found wanting on this issue.
"PDP which doesn't have much of the support in the kathua was quite right in its political vision to condemn it as it could consolidate its base but BJP which has much higher stakes in this region just kept silent. The murder and rape was condemnable act but it should put the things in perspective and voiced concern over politicization of the episode in high decibel but just kept mum," said the senior official of the BJP high command.
The sources said that it directed the state party leadership to campaign to expose those behind the poltiicisation of the episode and bring about their deeds in public. The senior leadership of the BJP central command has also advised the state leadership on how to go about it.
"The tragedy is that BJP in the state is highly inarticulate. It always needs handholding. This was simply a local episode and they knew the ground situation and also who was pushing them? They should have been in touch with the people who carried out march and should have counseled them on how to go about it . The state unit failed in its job and we are left to do job on their behalf again," said the senior leader of central leadership.
