Political tussle keeps Primary School in dilapidated condition | | | Ashwani Sharma
Early Times Report
Udhampur, July 15: Government Primary School Guli (Zone-Dudu), Village Rasli Thakrai in Tehsil Basantgarh is in dilapidated condition. Surprisingly the school at present is running in a private building after the education authorities failed to get it repaired. Locals informed that there is a political tussle between the sitting MLA and former-MLA owing to which the school is suffering badly thereby affecting the education of the children. Shambhu Lal-a local informed that the private building where the school is running is not spacious and lacks many facilities thereby affecting the education of children. The children have to travel long distance to reach the new place which the authorities have taken on rent. "The own building of the school has its shed damaged apart from some other problems which if looked into can provide good accomodation to the children. It may also save funds which can otherwise be used for children welfare," a retired educationist from the village told Early times reporter. "The politicians should realise that the school belongs to small children and is meant for their welfare. It should not be sacrificed for the political differences," Bimla-a housewife from the village said. Locals have appealed to the Governor N.N. Vohra and DC Udhampur Ravinder Kumar to look into the matter as education of their children is being affected. CEO Jattu Ram could not be contacted. |
