AJKPC delegation meets Advisor Ganai
7/23/2018 10:17:04 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, July 23: A delegation of Panchayat members met Khurshid Ahmed Ganai, Advisor to Governor here at Jammu. The delegation led by Anil Sharma, President of All Jammu Kashmir Panchayat Conference also submitted a memorandum to the advisor listing their demands including implementation of 73rd amendment of Indian constitution here in the State Panchayti Raj Act. Amongst other demands, the AJKPC delegation also requested the advisor to ensure providing adequate security to the panchayat members as already between 2011 around 20 panches sarpanches were killed or injured by the unknown gunmen and yet no one is arrested. They also asked for having 3 tier panchayti Raj institution unlike previous elections where other two tiers of Block and district were deliberately left away because the political functionaries did not believe in decentralization of power.
The Advisor gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured them that all their concerns shall be conveyed at appropriate level. It is pertinent to mention here that AJKPC is spearheading the campaign seeking adequate powers to the PRIs in Jammu and Kashmir State and uninterrupted elections of Panchayts through an autonomous election commission. Besides Anil Sharma AJKPC leaders who met the advisor include Goutam Singh Jamwal and other office bearers of the organization.
