After Padder punctures NIA threat claim, Mehbooba makes Mamaji resign
7/23/2018 11:25:32 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, July 23: Former chief minister and the president of the Peoples Democratic Party Mehbooba Mufti has made yet another attempt to save her party from the split. She has made her maternal uncle Sartaj Madni tender his resignation from the post of the PDP vice-president just to send a message to rebels that their suggestions are being taken seriously.
Madni on Monday submitted his resignation as vice president of the party to Mehbooba Mufti for saving the "larger interests" of the party.
He said that his resignation would help in its "strengthening" the party.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "It seems Madni has realized that he was caught in a wrong job and he holding the vice-president's post had destabilized the party. He has acknowledged that his resignation is important for keeping the party united."
He said that when PDP was in power its legislators kept on screaming and shouting that party is being run by the family members and they (MLAs) have been sidelined but no one paid any heed towards their pleas. "Out of power the PDP President Mehbooba Mufti has realized her mistakes and is trying her best to rectify these," he added.
Analyst said that one of the PDP rebels Abdul Majid Padroo has contested the claim of Mehbooba Mufti that party legislators are being threatened. "PDP dissidents are not facing any kind of pressure from either NIA or any other quarter in Delhi. I appeal all likeminded MLAs to come together for formation of a new government in Jammu and Kashmir," Padroo told reporters on Sunday.
Interestingly, Madni resigned just a day after Padroo appealed "likeminded" legislators to come forward and help in forming the new government in J&K. He (Padroo) also stated that he had asked the PDP president Mehbooba Mufti to take action against the four party leaders who have "hijacked" the party.
Padroo puncturing Mehbooba's NIA's threat claim has once again proved that the PDP President is resorting to all the tactics to pressurize BJP to stay away from the PDP rebels. "She knows it very well that PDP rebels have done their homework and are all set to spring a surprise after the Amarnath yatra ends. She is making last ditch attempts to regain control," said a Kashmir watcher.
The PDP rebels have taken the party leadership head on and have exposed the "muck" within the party and have given an impression that nothing would stop them from coming into power again. Not even the PDP president.
