ADGJAC deputation calls on Vyas, raises several issues
7/23/2018 10:17:22 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 23: The representatives of All District Gurdwara Joint Action Committee (ADGJAC) J&K met B B Vyas, the Advisor to the Governor, and submitted a memorandum to brought to his knowledge the problems being faced by the minority Sikh community in J&K State.
In the meeting various issues were discussed and raised before Vyas which include inaction of government in the incident of attack on a Sikh girl in Tral, extending Prime Minister Special Employment Package in terms of SRO 412 to the Sikhs in the valley but it is sad that the basic SRO 412 was abrogated and new SRO 425 dated 10.10.2017 brought into force by virtue of which the benefits of Prime Minister Special Employment Package was only extended to the Pandits living in the valley (Non-Migrants) and the benefit of same was denied to the Sikhs living in the valley, thus rendering SRO 425 as discriminatory to the Sikhs. It was requested to amend the SRO 425 and Sikh community should be given the benefit of the same.
The delegation said that Sikhs being the microscopic Minority community cannot avail the benefits of the Minority Welfare Schemes as the Minority Commission is not established in J&K State as it is in other states. So it was requested to establish the Minority Commission and till the commission is established the 5% reservations should be given to the Sikh community as they feel neglected in every sphere be it Government jobs, legislative and judiciary besides other demands installation of the statue of Baba Banda Singh Ji Bahadur at Kunjwani Chowk, Jammu was also demanded.
Vyas gave patient hearing to the issues and demands of Sikh community of Jammu and Kashmir and agreed to fulfill the demands and solve the issues at an earliest.
