SF launch searches in Lolab, Handwara, Bandipora

KUPWARA, July 23: Police claimed arrest of LeT militant in Humpora village of Handwara, while as the search operation continued for the second consecutive day today in Shumriyal forest area of Lolab area and fresh CASO was launched in other parts of NRK.
Reliable sources said that, a joint team of security forces including army, SOG and police launched cordon and search operation (CASO) following inputs about the presence of militants in Humpora village.
"While carrying the searches in the area, a joint team of army's 30RR, 92 BN CRPF and Handwara police apprehended the militant alive along with arms and ammunition, sources informed early times.
A senior police official from the area confirmed to ET that a militant affiliated with LeT was arrested was he was identified as Waqar Ahmad Malik R/O Check Tulawaru of Handwara.
The official said that some arms and ammunition was recovered from his possession including 1 AK- 47 rifle, 613 rounds, one UBGL that he was carrying in a bag.
However an army official said that the search operation continued for the second consecutive day in Shumriyal forest area of Lolab Kupwara.
The search operation was launched by a joint team of army, SOG and police, adding past one day we had specific inputs about the presence of the militants in the forest area of Lolab
Massive searches were launched since yesterday in the forest area to trace out the suspected militants from forests.
It is also learnt from sources that on Monday late evening security forces launched a CASO in Chogal area of Handwara thesil.
A joint team of army, SOG and CRPF laid a siege at Chogal village along Kupwara-Srinagar Highway, said sources.
They said that the CASO was intact in the area, till the last reports came in.
Sources also informed that CASO was launched in Kulhama village of Bandipora district on Monday.
The searches were carried out after receiving specific inputs about the presence of militants in the Kulhama and its adjacent villages.
The CASO was called off peacefully in Bandipora village, said sources.
