Governor's administration bans telecasting banned Pak channels
7/23/2018 11:00:38 PM
Rumours are more dangerous than bullets. Under this adage the Home Department has cautioned cable operators against airing over 30 unpermitted channels especially those from Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. These unpermitted channels telecast programmes that could poison the mind of even saner people. Since the security scenario is not conducive for any positive work these unpermitted channels spread rumours which could burn the topless towers of Kashmir. And that is why the Jammu and Kashmir Home department has warned cable operators in Kashmir of action for failing to block over 30 "unpermitted" channels including many aired from Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. In an order issued by the additional district magistrate, Srinagar, cable operators were directed to immediately stop telecasting or transmitting such channels. JK government, home department, vide Ps/home/2018-60 dated July 2, 2018, has reported thatsome cable operators are telecasting and transmitting unpermitted/banned private satellite channels within the jurisdiction of district Srinagar. Mehbooba Mufti should realise that banned private channels.
The order said it was necessary in larger public interest and for the maintenance of peace and tranquility to prohibit cable operators from transmitting TV channels not permitted by the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Therefore, in an exercise of powers conferred by section 19 of Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act 1995 cable operators are hereby directed to immediately stop telecasting/transmitting non-permitted TV channels/ banned private satellite channels within period of three days," the order read.
Cable operators were asked to furnish a notarised affidavit for the same and warned of action in case they fail to do so. This way the Governor's administration is quick in acting against the cable operators who were doing a roarig business of telecasting or transmitting unpermitted channels from Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
These cable operators were telecasting these unpermitted Pak and Saudi channels but the previous coalition Government did not want to act against these operators for fear of human rights violations. But the damage has been done during all the three years of the coalition rule.Since the rumours were being telecast or transmitted from the banned channels from Pakistan which derailed peace in Kashmir. What about the BJP? The BJP ministers and MLAs were ignorant of the telecast of these unpermitted Saudi and Pakistani channels and instead were bothered about Article 370 and Article 35 A that too after withdrawing support to the PDP which resulted in the fall of Mehbooba Mufti led Government. During the years the BJP shared power with the PDP the saffron brigade made a feeble attempt at raking up abrogation of Article 370 and Article 35 A. What a joke?
