Orientation Course for Teachers' begins at JU

Jammu, Aug 10: UGC Human Resource Development Center, University of Jammu has started the 40th General Orientation Course for University/College Teachers.
The programme has been organized in the Department of Home Science, University of Jammu and was inaugurated by the Dean Research Studies, Prof.Jigar Mohmmad and Registrar University of Jammu, Dr.Minakshi Killam. University and College Teachers from Shimla (Himachal Pardesh) Hooghly (West Bengal) Leh, Kulgam, Udhampur, Bhaderwah, Kishtwar, Thathri, Kathua, Jammu and many other places are participating in this four week orientation programme.
While speaking on the occasion, Prof.Jigar Mohammad appreciated the efforts of HRD Centre, for organizing this programme, which will help in making the teachers skill oriented and sharpen their skills. He said that Jammu University is an A+ University and has been striving to make research based studies as the focus of its forward strides.
Dr.Minakshi Kilam, Registrar, Jammu University, welcomed the participants and interacted with the participants and invited them to make the best possible use of the opportunity for achieving excellence in their respective areas and to take the message forward amongst their students. She said that Teachers need to have administrative qualities besides good teaching qualities to motivate their students for bringing change in the society.
Prof.Shashi Manhas, HOD, Home Science and Course Coordinator, while welcoming the guests and the participants in the Department of Home Science, where the programme is being held, dwelt at length about the subject of Home Science and the activities of the department and said that the teachers need to have knowledge of linkage between society, environment, development and education to achieve larger context of education. Dr.Ranjeet Kalra, Assistant Director presented the vote of thanks. Others present in the programme included Dr.Sarika Manhas, Course Co -Cordinator, Dr.Smridhi Arora, and Dr.Nirojini Bhan from the department of Home Science
