Sarpanch along with cousin held for murderous attack on teachers

Early Times Report

RAJOURI, Dec 29: A newly elected Sarpanch of Hill Tak panchyat in Darhal tehsil of Rajouri district was arrested along with his cousin for a murderous attack on two government teachers including in-charge headmaster.
The incident took place in the evening on Friday when all the three teachers of middle school at Hill Tak were on way to police station to lodge written complaint against the Sarpanch identified as Mohd Afsir for repeated threats for changing his date of birth in the school records from 1969 to 1984.
The Sarpanch is reportedly facing Crime Branch investigation in forging birth date for getting license from FCS&CA department to run a ration depot.
According to birth certificate issued by headmaster of Government Middle School Hill Tak vide No.HMMST-48/017 dt 9/9/2017, the birth date of Sarpanch is 3/2/1969.
To get license from FSC&CA the sarpanch had managed another (fake) birth date certificate from National Institute of Education at Darhal Malkan with his birth date as 7/4/1984 under file No. 665 dt 7/9/2005.
To avoid Crime Branch investigation, the Sarpanch was pressurizing the in-charge headmaster to change his birth date in school record from 3/2/1969 to 7/4/1984.
"As the sarpanch was repeatedly denied for any change in the school records, he on Friday once again ( to pressurize) under the guise of checking the school started making the video depicting that teachers come to school late," said in-charge headmaster.
He again asked to change the birth date and when denied he threatened of dire consequences and left the school, added in-charge headmaster.
The matter was brought in the notice of SHO and Zonal Education Project Officer (ZEPO).
"After school hours when we were on way to police station to lodge written complaint, the Sarpanch , his son, cousin and other relatives blocked our way and attacked with lathis, stones, sharp edged weapons etc in the presence of cops who were sent by the SHO," said in-charge headmaster.
Both the teachers are under treatment at district hospital. Teachers of the area and at Rajouri under the banners of Teacher's Joint Front (TJF) and Peer Panchaal Regional Employees Front (PPREF) today held protests against partial role of Darhal police (as the Sarpanch is associated with the PDP) and demanded addition of section 307 RPC in the FIR.
Police have booked the accused under sections 147, 323,341 & 353 and have arrested the Sarpanch and his cousin Riaz Ahmed.
"The matter is of serious nature needs stringent action, Departmental inquiry by a team headed by principal has also been initiated and matter has already been taken up with district administration," said Ch. Lal Hussain, CEO.
