Now Geelani's son supports Muzaffar Baig on referendum
12/29/2018 11:22:44 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 29: While the Peoples Democratic Party is often accused of enjoying cordial relations with the Hurriyat G Chairman Syed Ali Geelani, his son has supported the PDP stand on referendum in Jammu and Kashmir.
Geelani's son, Sayed Nasim Geelani has said that "Then it is better to have referendum."
The son of senior Hurriyat leader said it on the social while endorsing the news report on what PDP media leader Muzaffar Hussain Baig said on December 17.
Addressing a function in the national capital, Baig had said Kashmiri Muslims would vote for India if the United Nations-mandated plebiscite was conducted in Jammu Kashmir.
"I believe Muslims of Kashmir will stay with India as there is no option of remaining independent," Baig said referring to the possibility of the United Nations referendum on Kashmir at a one-day conference 'Kashmir: The Way Forward' organised by a Delhi-based think-tank the Observer Research Foundation in New Delhi.
Baig was speaking during the session 'Recalibrating the Politics' in conversation with a senior journalist.
"There has been a radical transformation in the nature of dissent since 1947… The choice in front of the people in J&K is not between India and Pakistan but between paradise and hell," Baig had said. Interestingly a few years ago a former official had said that Geelani was supporting the PDP as he had issues with the National Conference.
During the 2016-agitation in Kashmir, the then PDP government had "illegally" given a job to Geelani's grandson Aneesul Islam at SKICC.
Aneesul was given the job allegedly as a part of deal between Geelani and the PDP led government that after the grandson would be adjusted in government, the Hurriyat would ask the people to end protests that year.
Soon after Annesul was given the job, Geelani had asked the people of Kashmir to resume business.
As per sources the Mufti family and some other senior leaders in the said party have been enjoying very good relations with the Hurriyat G leader and his family and their in-laws as well.
Many of the PDP leaders have been publicly confirming that they have high regards for Geelani whom they look upon as a "fatherly figure."
The NC has also many times said that the Hurriyat G has been soft towards the PDP from time to time.
Despite repeated attempts, Geelani's son or Muzaffar Baig couldn't be contacted for comments.
