Miscreants allegedly set ablaze house of Sarpanch candidate in Behlla

RAJOURI, Dec 29: Some miscreants on the intervening night of December 27 and 28 allegedly set on fire the house of defeated candidate (for Sarpanch) in Behlla village under the jurisdiction of Budhal police station in district Rajouri.
The defeated Sarpanch candidate's house was attacked for approaching the authorities for re-counting and other irregularities.
Mohd Mushtaq, owner of the house who along with his wife was in Rajouri town, when the incident took place
He alleged that his wife Noshada Begam, who was emerging winner as a Sarpanch candidate from Bhella panchayat but even after re-counting she was declared defeated due to the pressure mounted by opposite party which is politically and religiously influential in the area adding that he approached the appellate authority for justice.
"Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) the appellate authority had fixed December 27 for hearing and they were at Rajouri when 4-5 miscreants, possibly associated with winner party, have put our house on fire at late night hours on Thursday," said Mohd Mushtaq.
He added they have approached the police on Friday and demanded action against the unidentified miscreants.
