People are the best judge, let them decide: Brig Gupta
4/1/2019 9:47:37 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 1: Counterattacking National Conference (NC) for portraying itself as secular and accusing Bharatiya Janata Party of being communal, Brig Anil Gupta, State Spokesperson has challenged NC, "People are the best judge. Place facts before them and let them decide." According to press release, he also said that by now not only the people of J&K but the entire nation knows as to which party in J&K has been betraying the faith of the people for the lust of power by repeatedly letting them down in the hours of crisis. "Who was playing golf in London, when Kashmir was burning?" the NC leadership needs to explain to people.
As far as the question of which party is secular, Brig Gupta said, "I will place certain facts before the people and leave it to them to decide." It is a well- known fact that party which claims to be secular was originally formed as Muslim Conference and was responsible for the 1931 call for jihad leading to massacre of Kashmiri Pandits. "Quit Kashmir" movement was communally motivated and aimed at throwing out Dogras from Kashmir. It was at the behest of Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah that Indian forces were halted in their track when they were well poised to liberate the entire territory occupied by Pakistan, resulting in millions of Hindus and Sikhs belonging to Muzafarabad, Kotli, Mirpur, Poonch and Bhimber forced to leave their homes and take shelter in Jammu. These are a few historical facts which prove the "exclusive" ideology of NC which it has continued to maintain even till date, accused Brig Gupta.
Brig Gupta further listed a few questions. "which party formed a communal front to contest elections in 1983?" "Is terming your workers as "Jihadis" secular? "Is it secular to seek support of terrorists to defeat BJP?" "Is Resettlement Bill 1985 secular?" "Is opposing grant of land for Amar Nath Yatra secular?" "Which party is responsible for mass-exodus of Kashmiri Pandits and destroying the pluralistic nature of Kashmiri society?" "Why word 'secular' not included in state's preamble?" "Which party excels in polarisation to win elections?" "which party has ruined the symbols of Dogra heritage?" "Did Sheikh Abdullah not say that I would not sleep till I make the Dogras to work as 'Hatos' (term used for Kashmiri Muslim labourer)?"
On the contrary BJP believes in "Sab Ka Saath Sab Ka Vikas" and has made no distinction based on religion for more than 100 welfare schemes launched during the last five years, stated Brig Gupta.
With its Kashmir centric mind-set NC is also responsible for gross neglect of the other two regions of the state and introducing 'discriminatory' politics, accused Brig Gupta. The party's plan of sub-regional council also smacks of communal politics with a view to divide Jammu region on the basis of religion while at the same time it boasts of being secular. "I humbly appeal to the people to judge for themselves and not get carried away by sheer rhetoric and false narrative built by the NC," urged Brig Gupta.
