16 schools submerged in Bandipora
Few suffer minor damage

BANDIPORA, June 13: Due to recent flash floods, almost sixteen schools have been submerged while as many got partially damaged, affecting schooling in the district.
Sources said that, due to incessant rains from past few days many schools got submerged. They said that, at least sixteen schools in Bandipora got submerged, in which one school in Sumbal Education Zone, one school in Quial Zone, Two schools in Bandipora Zone, and twelve schools in Hajin Education Zone have got submerged.
There are partial damages to few schools where as the authorities are assessing the damages if any occurred due to flash floods in the district, sources told early times.
However locals of Bandipora informed that, due to heavy rains that triggered flash floods inundated several villages and a bridge was washed away besides windstorm damaged vegetables, apple and other standing crops in Bandipora.
There were reports that yesterday the bridge over Arin Nallah connecting Arin village was washed away due to flash floods triggered by incessant rains.
Water level in the many streams like Arin, Madhumati, Athwatoo, Bonar and adjoining rivulets caused fear among the local populace of the adjacent areas.
The water level in River Kishen Ganga in Gurez and Jhelum in Sumbal and Hajin had risen considerably and the authorities and locals have kept themselves ready to meet any eventuality like situation in Bandipora district, said locals of Sumbal area.
