However, few months back, locals urged to PHE department to remove all dilapidated water supply pipes and in this regard funds of rupees 8.80 Lakhs has been allocated by PHE. "But ironically due to intervention of local MLA (Kavinder Gupta), the PHE left the work midway, resulting the people are being forced to consume filthy water", said Gurubinder Singh.
"Uncovered sewerage nallah, blocked drains and dilapidated roads and lanes which common civic problems that plague several lanes of Roop Nagar and civic official are seems least bothered about it. These civic issues are pending for long and repeated pleas to Jammu Municipal Corporation and local Councillor have not yielded any result ", said Pritam Singh.
He further said that since last many months nearly few meter road stretch near the irrigation canal and become a accidental porn area for bikers and old age persons but nobody from the PWD department take the issue seriously despite repeated pleas of local.

Like Santi Devi and another septuagenarian Soma Devi who has been running to pillar to post for covered herself under Old age pension.
Residents of lane No. 3, 4 and 5 of Roop Nagar near sewerage nallah have been reeling under acute scarcity of water and frequent fluctuation of electricity, which giving sleepless night to locals and administration in deep slumbers. They castigated the local councillor and former MLA Kavinder Gupta for making false promises with us over water supply and installation of new transformer to reduce pesky power cuts but after getting elected their promises proved as hoax, said Satya Parkash. "Before the Member Parliament election, BLO had visited the areas for enrolment of new voters. They filled form and have completed all the formalities but their names are still not included in the voter list", said Anita Devi and added that her three children still not enrolled in voter list however all of them attained 20 year age.
