Jammu, Jan 3: Savitribai Phule Modern School, Baribrahmana celebrated 189th Birthday of First Women teacher Mata Savitribai Phuley in the school Premises in the Chairmanship of H.R Phonsa,Managing Director of the School. Balwant Kataria Vice Chairman , Vishwakarma Library and Research Centre was Guest of honour.
The celebration marked the presentation of courful cultural items and speeches by the children and distribution of warm clothes to the needy. Note Books were also distributed to the students by Vishwakarma Library.
In her opening remarks , Sunita Bangotra, Principal stated that Savitribai Phule Modern School, is not merely an institute of learning but committed to the welfare of poor and needy. She said remembering Mata Savitribai Phuley is our moral duty because she opened the doors of Women education in India in 1848. She was the first lady to boycott the social traditions imposed on Indian women to remain inside the four walls of the house. She was a good poetes as well. One of her poem is " Go Get Education" Be self-reliant, be industrious, Work, gather wisdom and riches. All gets lost without knowledge, We become animal without wisdom. Balwant Kataria, while speaking on the occasion elaborated that Savitribai was a visionary lady who thought that women are not less than men. She laid foundation of Girl Education in India and faced tough opposition from the orthodox society. |
