| Sweet Shop’s waste spoils rivulet’s water, public resents | | |  ASHWANI SHARMA

UDHAMPUR, Jan 3: A renowned sweet shop at village Roop Nagar Panchayat Phangial is throwing its waste into a nearby rivulet thereby polluting the water body on one hand and creating a nuisance for the general public on the other.
The passersby mostly complain that stink is caused by the disposal in the rivulet and they have tough time to pass through that particular stretch.
“The foul smell caused by garbage throwing is unbearable. We have to cover noses while passing through Phangyal as the culvert (puli) is now full of waste thrown by the sweet shop,” Mohinder Sharma-Panch of Phangial informed.
Rohit Sharma, another local, who works as a casual employee in a private industry here said that if left like this some epidemic may break out.
Several people raised fingers over the inefficiency of concerned authorities to check the menace.
We appeal to DC Udhampur to look into the matter and take strict action against the shopkeeper who throws his shop’s waste on roadside and rivulet.
