Segregation Centre inaugurated at Bandhu Rakh

JAMMU, Jan 3: Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) along with Deputy Mayor, JMC, inaugurated a Segregation Centre here today at Bandhu Rakh.
During the inauguration, Mayor, JMC Chander Mohan Gupta said that presently JMC is lifting the garbage from door to door in 53 wards and there is 100% sanitation in all 75 wards. JMC has taken the new step and collected the segregated waste on pilot basis with the help of public in Ward No 56 which is further transported at Bandhu Rakh with the help of portioned modernized Autos and in which wet waste will be converted into compost and inorganic material segregated in different categories shall be handed over to registered Recyclers.
At Bandhu Rakh, JMC has constructed 29 compost pits for wet waste and is going to construct a dry waste collection centre with the help of UNDP for segregation/recycling of dry waste. During the occasion, all the dignitaries planted the trees at the site. The Dy Mayor Purnima Sharma gave instructions to the concerned for more plantation at the site.
