Drug Peddler Detained Under PSA | | | Early Times Report
Samba, Jan 3: Ghagwal Police of Samba district today detained an alleged notorious drug peddler under public safety act (PSA). According to sources, a special team of Police Station Ghagwal was constituted to arrest the accused person. "He has been identified as Surjeet Singh son of Dalgir Singh resident of Gurha Slathia, Tehsil Vijaypur District Samba. At present, he is residing in Parli Bhand, Kathua, was involved in a number of drug smuggling cases/ criminal activities and is posing a great threat to the health of the general public", sources said. It is worthwhile to mention here that the accused is a habitual drug smuggler and continuously involved in the illicit trafficking of NDPS. The subject has become a potential threat to the public order and is highly prejudicial to the security of the State. "He was involved in a number of drug smuggling cases registered against him in the district Samba FIR No. 113/2013 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act of P/S Vijaypur, FIR No. 11/2017 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act of P/S Ghagwal, FIR No. 99/2019 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act of P/S Ghagwal and FIR No. 42/2013 U/S 498-A RPC of P/S Vijaypur", they said. "Keeping in view of his repeated involvement in drug smuggling activities, a dossier was prepared by Senior Superintendent of Police, Samba and forwarded to Divisional Commissioner Jammu who formally issued the order of his detention under the PSA. The detention warrant was executed by a Police team of Police Station Ghagwal on 2nd January 2020 and the accused has been lodged in Sub Jail Hiranagar", they added. |
