Over 3,100 tests being done daily, life more imp than going home without report: DC 5/21/2020 11:31:01 PM Early Times Report Srinagar, May 21: Claiming that over 3,100 tests are being done daily, Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Dr Shahid Chaudhary said life is more important than going home from Quarantine centres without waiting for tests. Responding to National Conference (NC) senior leader Salman Sagar asking for speedy test results of those who are in quarantine so that negative ones can be sent back home, Dr Chaudhary said 31400 tests were conducted during the last ten days.He asked Mr Sagar to be little more patient. To another report about demonstration at Quarantine centre in Srinagar, he said 14 Kupwara residents at a centre in Srinagar tested positive hours after this protest. Going home is not more important than saving lives, the DC said, adding ‘Let us not overstretch officials working tirelessly without a single day break since the last three months’. Taking to micro blogging site twitter Dr Chaudhary said “ Sure Salman Sahab, thanks for your concern, but our testing rate is already one of the fastest. Eg: 19,400 arrivals + 12,000 from zones in last ten days. Pls keep encouraging people to be little more patient”. He was responding to a tweet by Sagar which reads “Humbly request DC SGR @listenshahid to look for the speedy test results of those who are in admin quarantine so that negative ones can be sent back home.Since some people from the same centers have been detected positive & there are high chances of contamination for them as well”. Another tweet the Deputy Commissioner said, “Fourteen Kupwara residents at Quarantine centre in Srinagar tested positive hours after this protest. Going home not more important than saving lives. Let’s not overstretch officials working tirelessly without single day break since 3 months now. Such pressure is strictly discouraged”.
