EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, May 21: When entire country has been going through a very bad phase due to COVID-19 pandemic, some under probationer police officers having ranks of Sub Inspectors have allegedly been misbehaving with general masses, which has created strong resentment among the citizens.
Some senior citizens of Jammu, while expressing their anger over the misbehaviour of some newly recruited officers, who have been deployed at various nakas in the Jammu city, said that before deploying them into the public services, these officers should be taught moral education. “In such difficult situation of COVID-19, when these officers have great responsibility on their shoulders to create awareness among the people but some officers have been insulting the people in the name of awareness,” they alleged.
They further said that not only the general public, even the social workers, who are distributing ration among the needy, are also facing insult at the hands of these newly appointed young officers who have been misusing official powers. .
People have appealed to SSP Jammu and IG Jammu to immediately intervene in this matter by taking strict action against these newly appointed police officers, who are misusing their power for insulting and earning money from corrupt practices.
Meanwhile, Vice President Shiv Sena Mahila Morcha JK UT Sofia Sago, while talking to Early Times, informed about the misbehaviour of police officers. She said that she had not received any cooperation from police. “Being a social worker, I had brought many cases of crime against women at several police stations but she didn’t get any help from them,” she alleged further adding that instead of providing help for the safety of women, she had to face insult, humiliation from SHOs, which shows that these officers have not respect for women.
SSP Jammu, Shridhar Patil when contacted, said that he had received many complaints regarding misbehaviour by police officers and their involvement in corrupt practices.
SSP assured that he would verify the complaints and appropriate action would be taken against the guilty officers.
