‘Powerful, influential’ constructs mansion on forest land, develops road as well 5/22/2020 12:11:51 AM Ajay Sharma Early Times Report RAJOURI, May 21: A powerful man in this border district has encroached upon huge chunk of forest land and is all set to complete the construction work on the mansion that he has built on the forest land. Sources told Early Times that this man who is said to be close to some of the local officers of the Department of Forests encroached upon hundreds of forest land located in the Mohra Rugga village in the Patat Panchayat of Sunderbani tehsil in this district. They said that huge devastation has been caused to the forest land falling under compartment number 50/D. “The powerful man has been encroaching the forest land in the district like anything and same holds with the forest land falling in the Mohra Rugga village Patat Panchayat. He is all se to finish the work on the mansion that he has constructed on the forest land,” said sources. Sources said that two kilometers road has been constructed and developed by the encroacher and the same leads to his mansion located in the middle of the forest. They said that although the information was passed on the Range Officer concerned but no action has been taken so far. The locals of the area like Ajay Kumar, Akshay Kumar, Deepak Kumar and Suresh Kumar said that information regarding the encroachment has been passed to Range Officer Sunderbani, Deepak Kumar and Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Nowshera, Suresh Kumar but so far no action has been taken as the man involved in the ‘crime’ is powerful as well as influential. They doubt that the local department officials are hand in glove with the encroacher. When contacted Chief Conservator of Forests, Jammu Ramesh Kumar said that probe would be carried out in the matter soon and the report would be received as early as possible.
